Shettar puts up a brave front, says ULB poll result have no affect on Assembly elections

Though the results of the recently concluded ULB’s showed the declining power of BJP,  Chief Minister Shettar  who visited Mangalore today, March 18, 2013 has put up a brave front reiterating what he has been telling ever since “the loss suffered by BJP in ULB’s will have no impact on the upcoming assembly elections scheduled in two-months’ time from now.

The chief minister was in the city to take part in the inauguration of a number of projects including laying the foundation stone for the new hospital at Lady Goschen funded by ONGC-MRPL and the opening of the new Cargo Complex at the old airport premises at Bajpe..

Speaking to media persons soon after his arrival at Mangalore Airport Shettar said ULB’s elections are fought on local issues and hence the results will have no bearing on the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

The chief minister also inaugurated the 1st phase of Sri M Visvesvaraish road project at Yeyyadi, inaugurated the biogas centre at Mannagudda and symbolically inaugurated the synthetic track at Mangala stadium.

Thereafter, Shettar proceeded to Mannagudda where he opened a biogas centre and then to Mangala Stadium where he symbolically inaugurated the synthetic track and Balmatta first grade women’s hostel.   He then proceeded to Pilikula Nisarga Dhama to inaugurate the Guthu House and Dr Shivaram Karanth Planetarium.

Union minister for petroleum Dr M Veerappa Moily, C T Ravi, Yogish Bhat, MP Jayaprakash Hegde, Navin Kumar Kateel, senior Congress leader Oscar Fernandes, former minister Krishna J Palemar, MLA U T Khader, MLA Abhayachandra Jain, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and others were present.
