Siddaramaiah can spare only two days for the campaign in his constituency

Leader of the Opposition Siddaramiah said that he would campaign in the State from April 18 to 29 and in his constituency Varuna  on April 30 and May 1.

Speaking to newsmen here he  pointed out that owing to a large number of poll aspirants in Congress, there were initial hiccups in the selection process which was easily resolved

He said that the list of candidates for the remaining 47 constituencies in the State will be announced by this evening. As Congress party has 10 to 60 poll aspirants in every constituency, the selection process does take time unlike JD(S) where there are very few contestants / aspirants, he added.

When asked who could be the Chief Minister if Congress came to power, Siddharamaiah  categorically said that the party High Command would decide that but reiterated that Congress would have a smooth sail to power.

When reporters recalled that Siddharamaiah lost the Chief Ministership by a whisker earlier, the latter with a smile said that he was always optimistic and never pessimistic.

To another query on the advantages and disadvantages of birth of KJP, Siddu reiterated that Congress was strong enough by itself.

Siddharamaiah, summing up, quipped that JD(S) and BJP were fielding their candidates after the Congress fielded theirs.

He also said that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and several Union Ministers will camapaign for the party candidates in the State.

Later, Siddharamaiah went to the residence of former DGP L. Revannasiddhaiah on Nanjangud road where he addressed the Congress activists of Chamundeshwari constituency.

Meanwhile, Revannasiddhaiah was formerly inducted into Congress fold in the presence of Siddharamaiah and other Congress leaders including District Congress President Dharmasena and City Congress President C. Dasegowda.

Earlier, Mr Siddaramaiah contesting from varuna constituency for the forthcoming Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections Siddharamaiah visited the Suttur Mutt at the foot of Chamundi Hill here this morning and sought the blessings of Suttur Seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji.

Siddharamaiah, who landed in city by a helicopter, was received at the Lalitha Mahal helipad by Congress leaders. From there, he drove straight to Suttur Mutt accompanied by former Mayor and Chamaraja constituency Congress candidate Vasu, MLAs M. Satyanarayana (Chamundeshwari constituency candidate), Tanveer Sait (N.R. constituency candidate), H.S. Mahadevaprasad (Gundlupet candidate), Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa (T. Narasipur candidate), C. Puttaranga Shetty (Chamarajanagar candidate), R. Narendra (Hanur candidate), V. Sreenivasa Prasad (Nanjangud candidate), Chamarajanagar MP R. Dhruvanarayan, former MLA M.K. Somashekar (Krishnaraja candidate) and others.
