The body of Indian killed in Afghanistan bomb blast arrived in Udupi

ENARADA, Udupi, July 12, 2013:

The body of John Vikram Martis (36) who was killed in a bomb blast in Afghanistan on July 3, 2013 arrived at his hometown in Thottam, Malpe Bailakere,  this morning, July 12, 2013.

John Martis, an employee of United Nations Organization was on deputation in Afghanistan to work as an accountant for North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces that were deployed in Afghanistan.   John is survived by his aged parents, two brothers and a sister.

John’s brothers had left for Afghanistan on hearing his death and they accompanied the coffin.

Funeral is expected to be held late in the evening today.   John  was working in  Afghanistan for the last four years and was expected to leave Afghanistan for Dubai just two days before he was expected back in Dubai.   Martin’s body was brought back to Malpe from Delhi by Jet Airways flight and was taken to Malpe.   .

The last rites will be held at Thottam church at 4 pm this evening.
