Dr. Visvesvaraya expressed his happiness on being a part of the first Graduation Day and congratulated all the students. Delivering the graduation address, he noted, “The College was started by the great visionary B M Sreenivasaiah with an objective of providing quality technical education based purely on merit. This trend still continues and is the reason why BMSCE is one of the most prestigious institutions in the country today.”

He further added, “Any postgraduate degree is enriched further with research activity and industry interaction- these are elements which are critical to the engineering student.  I find that the programmes of BMS have been focused on these critical elements and I hope that they continue to build this further.”

Addressing the students and faculty, Mr. Deshpande said, “You (the students) are the assets of this nation.  The nation has a very bright future and you will be the beneficiaries provided you are willing to take the challenges and convert the opportunities to your advantages.  With the advent of technology, the world today has become a small global village. It is up to us to be what we want to be- the success is ours to take.  It is also important that we inculcate the right value system during this journey.”

He observed that the girls have outnumbered the boys amongst the rank holders and predicted that the 21st Century belongs to the Women. He said that women have done exceedingly well in most fields because of their patience, hard work and ability to understand and do the right job.

He also called upon the students to take up Politics. He said, “You young graduates should also look at joining Politics. The country needs young educated minds like you with character and integrity and more importantly the mind to serve society. This will herald a new beginning for our country.”

Pride and joy filled the air with families and friends cheering the students as they went onstage to receive their certificates.
