39th Annual Conference of IAPS inaugurated at KIIT

The 39th Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons (IAPS), under the aegis of the Odisha State Chapter of the IAPS, has been inaugurated by Dr. S. C. Jamir, the Governor of Odisha on 8th November, 2013.

Inaugurating the four day seminar at KIIT University from November 7 – 10, 2013, Governor said, our society is a combination of different class of people. In remote villages there are no adequate health facilities for the common people.

“The poor people are facing severe problem in health facility due to lack of finance. So doctors should put thier interest to go to village area, so that a proper health care facility can avail by the poor and common people of India” Jamir said.

Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS as Chief Speaker said, Medical Science is the best among other sciences to serve people. Doctors should aware for provide proper service to the poor people.

Dr. Sudhakar Jadhav, President IAPS introduces about theme and his experience on the conference while, Dr. Kishor Panjwani, Secretary, IAPS presents the annual report of the Association. Dr. Hiranya Kishor Mohanty, Organising Secretary gave his welcome address while Dr. Subrat Kunmar Mohanty, Joint Organising Secretary proposes vote of thanks.

Pediatric Surgery is an age specific super-specialty discipline where the thrust is on management of congenital malformations (abnormalities by birth), newborn surgery and paediatric urology.

Recently, minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy, thoracoscopy) and organ transplantation (kidney, liver) have revolutionised pediatric surgery in India. This conference, being organised for the first time in the state, is expected to have the participation of about 300 pediatric surgeons from all over the country.
