The construction of Gandhi Bhavan in all 30 districts of Karnataka is being carried out as per plan. This is the first of its kind project in the country to promote the ideology and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
Speaking to eNarada News, Bhrungeesh.N, Director of Information and Public Relations said Government is keen on completing the project and a review meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners through Web Conference is planned on June 6.
“Gandhi Bhanvans will have Auditorium, Picture Gallery, Meeting Rooms, Library, latest Audio-visual equipment and other facilities to promote Gandhi culture. Already 90% of work being completed in Bellary and work has begun in 16 districts. Remaining districts are in the process of finalising the suitable land. Government has released Rupees 3 Crore to each district,” said Bhrungeesh.N.
The suggestion to construct Gandhi Bhavans came from Dr. Wooday P Krishna, Educationist & President of Karnataka Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Gandhi Bhavan, Bengaluru.
” Establishing Gandhi Bhavans across the state is the first of its kind project in the country to spread Gandhian Philosophy. I had requested then CM Siddaramaiah who gave the approval for the project and Chief Minister H.D.Kumaraswamy sanctioned Rupees 90 crores. Gandhi followers are delighted,” said Wooday P Krishna.
