ENARADA, Bhubaneshwar, August 26, 2013:

Mr. Stewart Beck, the High Commissioner of Canada to India visited KIIT University and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) on August 26, 2013. He addresses the graduate and post-graduate students of Engineering, MCA, MBA and Law streams of KIIT University during his visit.

Emphasizing on educational relationship between India and Canada, he urged for collaboration through student teacher exchange programme with KIIT University and KISS. Speaking on the topic “Indo-Canadian Relationship”, he informed, Canada’s priorities in India include infrastructure, energy, food, education, science and technology. India is an important source country for immigration to Canada, Mr. Beck stated.

Canada and India have longstanding bilateral relations, built upon shared traditions of democracy, pluralism and strong interpersonal connections with an Indian Diaspora of more than one million in Canada, the High Commissioner of Canada to India said, adding that the Canada-India Environmental Collaboration seeks to increase technology and knowledge exchange on environmental issues.

Dr. A. Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS in his welcome speech said, we must keep our relationship strong with Canada which was developed since 60s. KIIT will take care to pick up and continue the educational collaborations with some Canadian Universities, he stated, while thanking Mr. Stewart Beck for his visit. High Commissioners and Ambassadors from U.K., USA, South Africa and several other countries have visited KIIT in recent times.

Prof P. P. Mathur, VC, KIIT said, the KIIT School of Bio Technology is a distinct institute in its sector and KIIT is very much hopeful to collaborate with Canadian institutes. He proposed the vote of thanks.
