The memorial structure constructed at Nandigudda in Mangalore, for Koti and Chennayya, the legendary twin heroes of Tulunadu which was under wraps due to violation of election code of conduct, was inaugurated recently by former minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary.
The structure is constructed by Narayanaguru Yuvavedike, an organization of Billava community at a cost of 4.25 lakh and the circle has been named after Koti-Chennayya. The 12-foot structure of laterite and granite with Koti-Chennaya’s message was designed and constructed by engineer Santhosh Kumar.
In his address the former minister stated that the duos Koti-Chennayya were exemplary heroes known for their valour and the younger generation must get inspiration from them.
The circle which was scheduled for inauguration on the occasion of Bisu Parba on April 14, had to be postponed as the authorities denied them permission for the fear of attracting poll code violation during election
time.
