Mysore, April 23,2013:
Cultural capital of the state Mysore city today celebrated Mahaveer jayanthi with religious fervor and traditional gaiety.
The city which has large number of Jain community and temples on their own across the city performed pooja on the occasion.
Besides hundreds of Jain community members took out a procession from Mahaveer Jain Bhavan in Halladakeri here early morning along with a huge portrait of Lord Mahaveer.
The event was organized jointly by Sumathinath Jain Nuv Yuvaka Manadal, Mahaveer Sumathinath Jain Moorthi Puja Sangh and other organisations.
The procession proceeded on Mysore-Bangalore Road and converged at Mahaveer temple. Special pujas were performed under the guidance of Devarathna Sagarji. Members of Rajasthan Jain Mahila Samaj donated a squint vision testing equipment worth about Rs. 1.5 lakh to the hospital.
Another 1,000 members of Jain Associations took out a procession from Jain Bhavan through Ashoka Road to converge at Vardhaman Bhavan .
