Sale of gold coins at post offices
Bangalore, June 10, 2013:

India post is offering 7% discount for gold coins on its MRP. This offer is valid till June 30, 2013.

Coins are available in 24 carat, Swiss gold of 99.99% purity and the denominations available are 1g, 5g, 10g, 20g, and 50g.

The coins are imported from Switzerland and certified by recognised Assayers and packed in tamper proof pack.
India post is selling the coins through 60 post offices across Karnataka including Bangalore General Post Office.

 

Microsoft India appoints new MD

Bangalore, June 10, 2013:

Microsoft India has announced the appointment of Karan Bajwa as the new Managing Director of its sales and marketing group (SMSG) in the country. Karan, who is currently the head of the enterprise business in India, will continue to be based out of Gurgaon, and will report to Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman – Microsoft India. Karan has been with the company for over five years.

As part of this planned transition, Sanket Akerkar, the current Managing Director, is moving back to the United States to take up another assignment in the company. He has been with Microsoft Corporation since 2003, and moved to the Indian subsidiary in 2010.

Making the announcement, Bhaskar Pramanik said, “In the last two and a half years, Sanket has led the organisation to greater progress across various areas. His deep understanding of enterprises and their needs in an evolving economy, his engagement with our customers and partners, and his commitment to building talent within the company has been truly appreciated. We wish Sanket every success in his next role.”

Welcoming Karan Bajwa to the new role, Bhaskar added, “I am very pleased that we are on the right path to growing talent within the company. Karan is a strong business leader who has always led from the front, and his successes both in Microsoft and prior to that are testimony to this. I am confident Karan’s strategic insights will help continue to grow the business in India.”

On taking up his new assignment, Karan said, “It is a very exciting time to spearhead the sales and marketing function for Microsoft in India, with limitless opportunities as the company transforms into a services and devices entity. The five years I’ve spent in the company so far have strengthened my belief that in India, especially, the potential is phenomenal. I look forward to exploring even newer arenas of growth”.

Karan starts his new tenure in July 2013 and Sanket will help with the transition until the end of July.

In an additional planned transition, Floris van Heijst, General Manager – Marketing & Operations, Microsoft India, will take up a senior appointment within Europe in July 2013. Floris joined Microsoft in 2005 and has been in India since 2010. “Floris is leaving behind a very strong and capable marketing organization” Bhaskar said, “and we are very thankful for his contribution to the India subsidiary.”

Floris’ replacement will be announced shortly.

 

 

G R Chintala takes over as CGM of NABARD, Karnataka RO

Bangalore, June 10, 2013:

G R Chintala assumed charge as Chief General Manager of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Karnataka Regional Office taking over from S N A Jinnah, who has been transferred to NABARD, Mumbai.

A post graduate in Agriculture from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, Chintala has 28 years of rich experience in development banking. He has worked in various parts of the country in different capacities including as the Officer In Charge of Andaman & Nicobar and New Delhi Regional Offices.

In Andaman islands he had conceptualised and implemented a project to improve the quality of copra (since coconut is a major crop) and also financing market intervention operations which helped the islanders a lot.

Before being transferred to Karnataka Regional Office, he was the Director of Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD) Lucknow, a premier training institute of the country involved in Human Resources Development of Rural Financial Institutions, NGOs and Govt Organisations.

He was also a member of the National Advisory Committee on NRLM under the Chairmanship of Minister of Rural Development Government of India.

 

70th branch of Can Fin Homes inaugurated at Basavanagudi

Bangalore, June 10, 2013:

R K Dubey, Chairman and Managing Director, Canara Bank, inaugurated the 70th branch of Can Fin Homes Ltd today (10/06/13) at Basavanagudi, Bangalore, in the presence of V S Krishna Kumar, Executive Director, Canara Bank & all the Board of Directors, many dignitaries and staff of the company.

S Santhanam, K Manickam, B Ravindra Bhandary, General Managers and S Krishnan, Deputy General Manager of Canara Bank also graced the occasion.

During the last financial year, Can Fin Homes Ltd. has opened 17 branches and has plans to open another 15 branches during this year, to take the number of branches to 85 by March 31, 2014.

The company plans to sanction Rs 2700 Crore loans during 2013-14 and reach a book size of Rs 6000 Crore by the end of the current financial year.
