ENARADA, Bhubaneshwar: February, 14, 2014:

After a thorough scrutiny, University Grant Commission (UGC) has selected 22 students of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) for the Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for the financial year 2013-14.

The selected students receive Rs.16,000 to Rs.18,000 per month as fellowship, besides annual contingency as applicable.

Out of total 64 tribal students selected from Odisha for this prestigious scholarship, 22 (ten girls and 12 boys) are from KISS. Last year 15 students of the institute had won this scholarship. They are presently doing research methodology course work at KISS.

While expressing his happiness, Dr. A. Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, congratulated the selected students and thanked all the coordinators for their sincere effort.

KISS selects the poorest of the poor students from remote areas to be its students and such achievement is not possible without value-added teaching, opined intellectuals.

The Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) Scheme for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes is formulated and funded by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The scheme is open to candidates who wish to pursue higher studies such as regular and full time M.Phil. and Ph.D degrees in Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Engineering & Technology.
