ENARADA, Bangalore, September 5, 2013:

The Bangalore-based Electronics Division of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged a prestigious Turnkey Order  from the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited for commissioning a 15 MW Grid-Interactive Solar Power Plant.

The Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) order valued at Rs.96 Crore is placed on BHEL by NTPC Ltd., for Design, Manufacture, Testing, Erection & Commissioning of the 15MW Grid-Interactive Solar Power Plant at Singrauli in Uttar Pradesh.

BHEL will execute the project covering all works from Concept to Commissioning and will Operate and Maintain the project for one year. The Solar Plant will come up near the 2000MW Thermal Power Plant of NTPC at Singrauli and on completion, will supply over 23 million units of Solar Power every year to the Uttar Pradesh State Grid. BHEL will deploy high-efficiency 240Wp Mono-Crystalline  Solar Modules for this project. These Solar Photovoltaic Modules are manufactured using the Mono-crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic (C-SI PV) technology which is well proven and has the longest operational experience across the world.

It is significant to note that BHEL-Electronics Division is also executing two more Solar Power Plants of 10MW each for NTPC at Unchahar in Uttar Pradesh and Talcher in Orissa.

Mega Watt-size Solar Power Plants already set up by BHEL at Raichur & Shivanasamudram in Karnataka, Jodhpur in Rajasthan and Katol in Maharashtra have been contributing to the country’s Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission. Also, other large-size Solar PV Power Plants set up by BHEL in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand etc., have been contributing in a significant way to enhance the quality of life of people in these regions with environment-friendly Solar Power.

Backed by a vast experience and expertise of over three decades in Power Electronics & System integration, BHEL is one of the few leading players in the field of Solar Photovoltaics, having capabilities from manufacturing of Solar Cells to System Integration of Solar PV Power Plants in India. The Solar PV modules are manufactured at the Company’s ultra-modern manufacturing facility located at Bangalore. In line with the rapid growth in this field, BHEL is planning to further augment its manufacturing facilities in this field.
