ENARADA, Mysore, October  10, 2013:

Well known writer and former Karnnada Sahtiya Parishat  president  Chandrasekhar Patil today came down heavily on the religious leader’s adda pallaki utsav (religious leader sitting in a palanquin which will be carried by their disciples on their shoulders) in the state.

Inaugurating the kavi sammelana (Poet’s Conference) as part of the dasara festivites here he said the religious leader’s adda pallakki utsav is a social evil. “While the scion of Mysore royal family have stopped travelling on elephants, a tradition during dasara jamboo savari, some religious leaders still want to sit on pallaki,” he said sarcastically.

He expressed his happiness  about the continuation of the literacy tradition in Mysore dasara festivites  and people of the state  has great respect  towards literary  personalities and abide to the stand taken by intellectuals  with regard to socially relevant issues.

The Karnataka has been a good number of   creative poets with their good works. He also recited poems on the occasion.

However, the response was very poor in terms of crowd to the event. MLA Vasu presided over the function.
