The Congress party held a victory procession in the city on May 21, 2013 to celebrate the victory of J R Lobo from Mangalore South constituency in the recently concluded assembly elections.

The victory procession which started from Nehru Maidan at 4 pm concluded at Kulshekar covering a distance of about 6 kms.

It was a victory procession and celebration for Congress workers who burnt crackers, caused litter all around causing public nuisance, throwing traffic out of gear. Motorists and commuters who were rushing home after office work had a harrowing time as the party workers danced on the streets with blaring music, tableaux, tiger dance and deafening crackers.

The stranded commuters had no other option but to watch the entire spectacle as mute spectators by controlling their anger and frustration.

The road to Nehru Maidan was also filled with lot of cars and two-wheelers as the procession started from Maidan at 4 pm.  The procession finally took off at 5 pm from Nehru Maidan and since it was peak hour commuters and motorists were seen grumbling.

The procession had to cross through the tricky Nanthoor circle where even normal traffic flow causes traffic snarl and one could see vehicles queuing from Kulshekar to Bendoorwell.

Alex Monteiro who hails from Neermarga complained “I never expected J R Lobo to resort to this kind of celebration causing inconvenience to public, that too late evening hour”.

So when it was celebration time for Congress workers the public had a harrowing experience.
